New Orleans Housing Competition

This is clemmonsArchitecture’s design for a mixed-use residential project to be located in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans. Architectural Record magazine in conjunction with the Tulane University School of Architecture sponsored a competition in March, 2006 in order to general ideas for rebuilding a more sustainable city after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The site is a full city block located adjacent to the Mississippi River. The competition brief required 160 residential units, approximately 20,000 square feet of retail space, and a 5,000 square foot urban studio to be used by the School of Architecture.
