Built in 1962 as part of a mixed-use development in the geographic center of St. Petersburg, this Le Corbusier inspired apartment building has been a landmark building in the Central Plaza district for over 40 years. After years of deferred maintenance the tenants were moved out and the building boarded up several years ago.
Now it is being completely renovated and upgraded to contemporary apartment standards. The 12-story building is being selectively demolished down to the original concrete structural system. Upon completion the building will have 178 apartments ranging from 700 to 1,500 square feet each, along with new amenities such as a fitness center, business center, and swimming pool with terrace and outdoor kitchen. The main goal of the renovation is to completely modernize the building while maintaining the overall character of this fine example of mid-century International style architecture.
